Take the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. Drive north on the Island Highway 1 about two hours until you get to Campbell River. Stay to the right to the Quadra Island ferry terminal. The ferries generally run on the half hour, so you will have to be on the 2: 30 p.m. or the 3:3 0 p.m. ferry to make the connection. When you get off the ferry, follow the signs to Heriot Bay and turn left on Cramer Road and right on Antler Road to the Heriot Bay government wharf. A stop at the local store for last minute goodies is always fun! Your boat will pick you up at the government wharf in Heriot Bay and bring you back from Read Island at the end of the retreat. The Quadra ferry costs $15 for car and driver. Be prepared for summer overloads and try to get to the terminal at least 30 minutes before departure time. You can call BC Ferries for reservations. Travel by Car: From Nanaimo on Vancouver Island drive North on Hwy 19 to the last exit of Campbell River. Turn right before the bridge and drive past the Discovery Harbour Mall on left to the ferry landing of the Quadra Island ferry (check www.bcferries.com for info and schedules). Travel by Ferries: Take a scenic BC ferry from Tswassen or Horseshoe Bay
terminals near Vancouver, to Departure Bay or Duke Point, Nanaimo. Travel By Air: Westjet Airlines and Pacific Coastal Airlines come in to the Comox Valley and Campbell River Airports. San Juan Airlines flies to Campbell River Airport regularly from Seattle and the San Juan Islands. Air Canada now flies (click on the names to go to their websites for travel information.)
